Lorien & Early in Concert at the Celo Inn! Catch Polly & Bob in their last performance for a while (Polly is taking some downtime for her third trimester…) at The Celo Inn on Saturday January 12th, 8pm. On Friday the 18th, at Mary Jane’s, soul sisters Gwyn Waller and Laura Thurston will share the gift of timeless original melodies and raw emotion, belting out rich vocals that truly open the portals of the soul. Their worldly style defies time and genre, paying tribute to the vintage era, the roots of southern Appalachia and the powerful energy of the rockin’ blues. TRAC would like to extend an invitation to apply for the following upcoming spring 2013 events. Below is an overview. Please visit our website for complete details, applications, guidelines and to submit payment, www.toeriverarts.org (the new website will be up in a few days). PLEASE PRINT THIS OUT.

TRAC MEMBERS’ GIFT SHOP: DEADLINE FEB 8, 2013. Artists may submit work for review for one or both of the TRAC Galleries. This will be the only gift shop jury in 2013. Guidelines: a) artist must be a current Avery, Mitchell or Yancey county TRAC member or join when submitting application; b) majority of work must be original, handmade, not from kits or patterns; c) work is professional, well crafted and ready for display; e) work is not represented in other local galleries; d) work is saleable in TRAC venue. Applicants deliver 1) completed application, 2) artist’s statement of one page or less, 3) resume or bio, 4) up to three items representative of the proposed work to either Gallery by February 8, 2013, by 5:00 pm. Incomplete applications will not be considered.

TOE RIVER STUDIO TOUR JUNE 7-9, 2013: DEADLINE MAR 8, 2013. Open to all current TRAC member artists/craftpersons. (may join TRAC when application submitted). The Studio Tour is a self-guided art and craft studio tour and open house. TRAC provides postcard, map-flyers, road signs, exhibition of participants’ work, and promotion. Delivery of work to Spruce Pine Gallery for exhibit Apr 30 – May 3 only. Exhibit dates: May 11 – June 9. Reception: June 7.

BLACKSMITH EXHIBIT: APPLICATION DEADLINE MAR 1, 2013.Application available at Spruce Pine Gallery or online. Open to all blacksmiths who work with anvil and hammer and are participating in the Fire on the Mountain Festival (separate event sponsored by Spruce Pine Main Street) that takes place on April 27. Submit up to three pieces (no fee to submit). Exhibit dates are Mar 23 – Apr 27. Delivery of work to Spruce Pine TRAC Center Gallery: Mar 11 – 15 only. Reception: Friday, Apr 26 from 5-7pm. Pick up work Saturday, Apr 27 after 4pm.

TRAC MEMBER 2014 EXHIBIT PROPOSALS: DEADLINE MAR 29, 2013. Drop off proposals at either Gallery location or mail to: TRAC, PO Box 882, Burnsville, 28714. TRAC accepting proposals for the year 2014 for both TRAC Galleries. Please submit a written proposal including name, address, email, phone, resume, media, 2D/3D, number of pieces in proposed exhibit, and space and/or time preference. Work samples or pictures should be included of your work. Collaborative exhibits are encouraged.

TRAC 2nd ANNUAL ARTS ROADSHOW-APRIL 20, 2013:DONATION DEADLINE APR 5, 2013. A fun, fundraising afternoon of artwork donated by collectors put up for silent and live auction. Held at the Burnsville Town Center from 4 to 6pm. Free admission. Cash bar. Commitment to donate by Mar 15.

TRAC 4TH ANNUAL PAINT OUT-MAY 18, 2013: One-day event open to artists working in painting and drawing mediums. Artists check in at Burnsville Gallery on the day of the Paint Out from 8 to 10am to authenticate their supplies. Completed work is returned to TRAC by 5pm for judging. Cash awards total $1000. Work will be displayed through June 22 at the Burnsville Gallery. Participation fee: $25 (students 5-18 free). Application will be available at TRAC Galleries and downloadable at our website. No early registration required.

TRAC ANNUAL ARTS AUCTION-OCTOBER 12, 2013: DONATION DEADLINE AUG 14, 2013. Annual fundraiser for TRAC held at the Spruce Pine Gallery. Auction: 7pm. Pre-Auction exhibit: Oct 5-12. Reserved seating for Live Auction.

REGIONAL ARTIST’S PROGRAM: DEADLINE OCT 15, 2013. A competitive grant program supporting projects pivotal to an artist’s career. Artists from Avery, Madison, Mitchell, Yancey, and Buncombe counties may apply. Amounts generally range from $400 to $1200. Grant writing workshops will be held in a number of locations TBA.
